Bacholars of Interdisplinary Studies

A bachelor of Interdisciplinary or BIS is a combination of two concentrations of your choice and then integrating them as one. It gives us the advantage of studying two concentrations without really doing each one separately yet getting equal knowledge of your chosen concentration.

 

 

The Core BIS Classes:

  1. BIS 301 – Foundations of Interdisciplinary Studies

In this class it introduces the concept of Interdisciplinary Studies by examining the theories and concepts learned in the two choose concentration Here we look at the theories and apply it in the real world.

  1. BIS 302 – Interdisciplinary Studies

In order to take BIS 302, one has to complete BIS 301.BIS 302, teaches the method of Interdisciplinary Inquiry and ways to learn new knowledge. Some of the things learned in this class are different approaches by applying new theories and concepts, observations, different research methods and the scientific method.

  1. BIS 401 – Applied Interdisciplinary Studies

In order to complete this course, one has to finish BIS 301 and 302 with C or better grade. It’s a 3 credit class where the students get an opportunity to hands on apply the knowledge they have gained so far. It usually involved interning somewhere or traveling to a new country.

  1. BIS 402 – Senior Seminar

This is the last and the final class for the BIS core classes. In order to take this class, one has to complete BIS 301,302 and 401. Here we combine all we have learned not only in all our core classes but also from our two concentrations. The professor usually selects the topic for the class.
